Finding Friends

I know it can be hard to find friends when you have a mental illness, especially if you have social anxiety.
My anxiety causes my hands to shake, I studder, I get tongue-tied, I cannot think, and sometimes I have anxiety attacks.
I have put together some ideas to help you find friends. These are things I have done in my life that have brought me together with some amazing people I have the privilege of calling friends.
First, consider what brings you happiness or intrigues you. For me it is art, crafts, and writing that bring me enjoyment.
Next, find activities, events, or classes that include those things. You will find it easier to talk to people you share common interest with. Once you have found some common ground it will be easier to make friends with people.
Not everyone will be your friend and that is okay. Lean into and enjoy the process of getting out of your comfort zone, trying new things, learning new things, and meeting new people.

**The photo is a tree of life pendent that I made. I find wire wrapping very relaxing and have had the pleasure of teaching others how to do it.
